TLA Series: What is EDI?

by John Stucky

Welcome back to our TLA series. TLA stands for Three Letter Acronyms, and this is our effort to help explain what they mean. Today we are covering EDI.

EDI stands for electronic data interchange. This is a mechanism to provide for electronic submission of transactions for large organizations. So instead of manually creating a purchase order and sending it, you would submit it or receive it via EDI. It's usually used or required by large organizations. So if you're looking to do business with the likes of Toyota or Home Depot or Walmart, you will be required to support EDI transactions. The good news is there are a lot of alternatives for how to process and support these transactions, and some of them are quite affordable.

There you have it. I hope you found this helpful. If you have any questions or need additional information, please drop us a line or send us an email.

Thanks for watching!
